Sodom and Gomorrah as an Example?

And what about Peter's declaration in 2 Peter 2:6 that "...turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to destruction, making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly..."? Sodom and Gomorrah was to serve as an example and yet we boldly glamorize and seek to legalize homosexuality with no shame or remorse in the pretense of love and tolerance and non-judgment of all people. We DON'T judge people by the color of their skin or their gender, but we DO judge actions! Do we allow premeditated murder? Why is it okay to discriminate against murderers? Do we allow incest or pedophilia? Why is it okay to discriminate against pedophiles? Homosexual behavior is not to be encouraged or promoted, but like any indulgence in any kind of sexual immorality, it should be resisted. "Flee sexual immorality" says 1 Corinthians 6:18. Our God said Sodom and Gomorrah was to serve as an example, but we think we can just ignore Him and not suffer any consequences? We support candidates who will see to it that we become Sodom and Gomorrah and we cheer them on? Not to mention the most innocent blood shed in our land which God several times warned against and also made examples of what would happen to those who shed innocent blood. Yet we think we can rationalize that, too. We will see the wrath of God if we continue in this direction! I think that is why so many seem so blinded; I believe hearts are hardened and we are on our path to destruction. Lord, please have mercy on us, although I know we don't deserve it!

Deceptions of False Leaders

My Bible reading last night was in the letters of Peter. Some of the scriptures really gripped me! Like 2 Peter 2:10 and 15-21, for instance.

...and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,...For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped from those who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.

I can't help but think of the Obama phenomenom, but actually this applies to the liberal pastors leading their congregations astray, as well. I think of Obama's speech where he almost ridiculed the Bible and Jesus's Sermon on the Mount, obviously despising God's moral authority! And does he ever speak great swelling words of emptiness! I believe he is the very definition of this scripture! While he promises freedom or "change"...he will lead them into corruption. Horrible corrupt laws that he twists to sound good and moral. He's the worst when it comes to abortion! Not only does he believe in late-term abortions, but believes in letting a baby born alive after a failed abortion, die on a shelf! He assures homosexuals he will be working for them! His terrorist ties and pattern of comments show his disdain for this country, and in his very words, he said he would stand with the Muslims should the political winds change. Calling evil, good; and good, evil. And the scary part of the scripture and what I have witnessed myself with people I know, he is alluring people who are Christians. It looks like born-again Christians who know their Lord and Savior! And I've sadly seen it myself, and seeing what this scripture says about it is scary! It also kinda blows a hole in the whole "Once saved, always saved" argument, I do believe. But that's another topic.

There doesn't seem to be anything bad enough that this guy can do that will turn his followers against him. I personally had an encounter very recently where I just forwarded an article by the Jerusalem Post. Now those guys (Israelis) are watching Obama like hawks! They report on his every terror tie and every lie that we seem to want to overlook and I found that very interesting and wanted to share it. I could not believe how I got blasted by two people just for sending an article, a third party's opinion. The responses were so ugly, and so out-of-character, that it was rather shocking. And there has been no reconciliation since then. Why on earth would saying something about just a man be so offensive? A man that cannot be questioned? Cannot be touched? I always wanted to hear all sides about the candidate I was supporting, and you would think any rational thinking person would. At least hear and decide upon the merits yourself. But none of his followers want to accept any bad news. I realized then that this is truly a spiritual battle. And those scriptures seemed to reinforce it. There is a spirit of anti-Christ at work here. I don't believe Obama is the anti-Christ, but the Bible says there are many anti-Christs, and this definitely looks like one. His arrogant attitude and belittling of scripture, but this ability to speak swelling words that sound good anyway to the blinded people who don't want to see. And they will turn back to wicked ways, and be lost. We must pray for these people, and Obama himself, who is surely being led by the wrong spirit!

Dr. James Dobson Can Speak for Me!

On Dr. Dobson's show today, he played excerpts from an Obama speech where Obama dismisses the Bible, conservative Christians, and Jesus, for that matter! It was really quite chilling to hear the condescending way he spoke and then the cheers he received for it! Unbelievable!

http://www.citizenlink.org/clspecialalert/A000007665.cfm

Now immediately there are James Dobson attacks and even a site JamesDobsonDoesntSpeakForMe.com! I checked it out. It's supposedly "a coalition of pastors and other Christians, led by Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, who are standing up for their Christian faith and supporting Barack Obama." What Christian faith? Their fruits are showing! Now I know nothing about Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell, but I don't see how any true Holy Spirit-led, Jesus as Lord of your life, Christian, could support someone who not only supports the murder of the most innocent, but goes further than most and won't even vote to save the life of a baby actually born alive after a failed abortion! This guy believes we should leave the baby on the shelf and let it die! How do you get more evil than that? But Pastor Caldwell supports him! Obama supports same-sex unions, homosexuality that God calls an abomination, but Pastor Caldwell supports him. Obama actually once used Jesus's Sermon on the Mount to justify same-sex unions! But then again in the excerpt I heard today he ridiculed the Sermon on the Mount as "a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application." But Pastor Caldwell has no problem with that. While Pastor Caldwell on his site says James Dobson doesn't speak for him when he "denigrates his neighbor's views when they don't line up with his", he doesn't mind Barack Obama speaking for him when he denigrates Jesus and the Bible!

Interesting to note a few things Jesus DOES say in the Sermon on the Mount. How about Matthew 5:19 which says "Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." How about 7:13-14 that speaks of the narrow way that leads to life and the broad way that leads to destruction. Hmmm. Dr. Dobson and those radical conservative Christians who are so narrow-minded as to believe there is only one way to eternal life? But Obama wants us to have a broader view, in his own words, "universal, rather than religion-specific, values". Okay, so Obama wants the broad way, and Pastor Caldwell supports him! And 7:15-16 that states, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits." Once again, I say Obama's and Pastor Caldwell's fruits are showing!

And for Dr. Dobson, who can speak for me anytime, I say that he is being salt and light, and I thank him for it! And "Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for Jesus's sake."

Also on Pastor Caldwell's site: "James Dobson doesn't speak for me when he uses religion as a wedge to divide." Interesting that Jesus said in Matthew 10:34-36 "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.'" Hmmm, Jesus used His religion to divide families.

He also said Dr. Dobson doesn't speak for him when he speaks as the final arbiter on the meaning of the Bible or when he uses the beliefs of others as a line of attack. Well, I know who IS the final arbiter and I'll believe HIS words and I'll take HIS beliefs, thank you very much! And I believe Jesus did use His words to attack with the sword of His mouth!

I love this one! "He doesn't speak for me when he seeks to confine the values of my faith to two or three issues alone." That's what every so-called Christian follower of Obama has to tell himself to make himself feel better about his choice. He has to change the moral dynamics of the debate. He has to tell himself there are more important moral issues - like the awful war where we have lost as many soldiers in the duration as we killed babies in one day! How about the moral issues of global warming and environmentalism where we worship and must not touch the pristine wasteland of Alaska and must save the trees and the spotted owl, but have no problem polluting the land with the blood of innocent babies! Besides, we aren't supposed to be looking to the world, but to Jesus! And of course, there is the important moral issue of the poor whom Jesus said we would have with us always.

You know, I am not at all happy with the Republican candidate for President. For a long time I have been quite disgusted about it and feel this country has already lost the election, whoever wins. But when it comes down to making a righteous decision based on Godly principles, I had to ask myself what the most important issues were. I had to say they were life, God-ordained traditional marriage, and God in the public square. We know how the two candidates stand on life and marriage, and how long God remains in the public square will probably depend on who is on the Supreme Court. While I can't be sure that McCain will appoint a Roberts or Alito, I CAN be sure that Obama would appoint a Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It's not that difficult a decision, although many try to pretend it is.

I have to continue with Pastor Caldwell's list! These are impossible to pass up and not comment on! "What does speak for me is David's psalm celebrating how good and pleasant it is when we come together in unity". Does he really believe David would be celebrating the watering down of His Lord's Word? I believe the unity he speaks of is one with His Lord, not of the "universal" world! And these great quotes of Pastor Caldwell's: "the Lord requires us to act justly"and to "defend the cause of the vulnerable", like perhaps justly supporting someone who would defend the lives of the most innocent among us??? And the reference to Nehemiah cracks me up! Does Pastor Caldwell remember Nehemiah? The same Nehemiah who fought with, cursed, plucked the hair of, and killed some of the Jewish people because they were marrying outside the faith?? I guess Obama was right, even Pastor Caldwell doesn't appear to read his Bible! And YES, YES, YES, we must speak the truth in love! But Obama lies and distorts in a pretense of love, and Pastor Caldwell supports that! We can know them by their fruits and we can test whether they are of God, "because many false prophets are gone out into the world".

57% of Evangelical Christians Say Christ is NOT the Only Way?

I read this disturbing article today at OneNewsNow.com: http://www.onenewsnow.com/Church/Default.aspx?id=150084 It says that 70% of Americans with a religious affiliation and even more startling, 57% of so-called evangelical Christians, believe that many religions can lead to eternal life. I only hope there was confusion in this poll, and that perhaps they thought it meant denominations, rather than religions. But then again, 68% of Americans said there was more than one true way to interpret the teachings of their own religion. More than one truth? And sadly only 14% cite religious beliefs as the main influence on their political thinking. Do they consider "religious beliefs" to be the teaching of the Bible, the Word of God? How can any true Christian who makes Jesus his Savior and Lord of his life not be influenced by Jesus's teaching in all aspects of his life? This article pushes a hot button for me because I struggle with it among loved ones. Jesus said in His own words that He was the only way to eternal life, so you either believe Him or you believe He was a liar or a madman. Oh, but what I hear is that perhaps the Bible is not the inspired inerrant Word of God. Maybe some of it has been misinterpreted by flawed man who transcribed it. That argument isn't reasonable and just doesn't hold up on so many levels! For one, what other book in the history of the world has been scrutinized more for the purpose of disproving it than the Bible? And it has stood the test of time! For another, we know Jesus claimed to be God and taught His disciples and followers that He was the only way because that is what His disciples reported and taught! If they didn't actually believe what we read from them in the Bible and were misquoted, they certainly wouldn't have died for those beliefs! In that way, we can prove they meant what the Bible says they said. And I certainly don't find it a stretch of the imagination to believe that the all-powerful Creator God of the universe could preserve His word as He wanted us to read it. I am very sad for people who will not take the time to read God's Word and see for themselves that it is trustworthy. He is trustworthy! And those who do not take Him at His Word are deceived.
