What Happens When We Let Human Emotion Lead Us and Ignore What God Said!

I was interested to read the story of Miss Universe Pageant official Shanna Moakler quitting the organization after owner Donald Trump said that Miss California Carrie Prejean could keep her crown. The article I read made Ms. Moakler sound so noble:

"Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization," Moakler said. "I cannot with a clear conscience move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth," she continued. "I want to be a role model for young women with high hopes of pageantry, but now feel it more important to be a role model for my children. I am sorry and hope I have not let any young supporters down but wish them the best of luck in fulfilling their dreams," she said.

I was struck by the sound of conscience-stricken integrity and couldn't figure out what the conflict was. Was she upset because Miss Prejean had been so cruelly treated for merely answering a question truthfully? Did she think Miss Universe didn't do enough to right the wrongs? But she was able to keep her crown! What was the problem here? Silly naive me! I had to look at other articles to find Ms. Moakler is quite the same-sex marriage advocate, and that she has been very vocal in her condemnation of Miss Prejean's belief in traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Are those the values she wishes to teach her children? Standing up for the little gay guy who is so discriminated against by the big Christian bigoted bully? How noble it all sounds! That's the problem with thinking and "feeling" for ourselves! It may all start with good intentions. I think about that with people I know who think they are being so much more open-minded and accepting and more loving, etc., etc. It may have started with good intentions, but you can't compromise good with evil or life with death. And the immoral homosexual lifestyle is one of death, literally! Homosexuals die at a much younger age than do heterosexuals. It literally brings about death to families and propagation. It is bringing about death to free speech as it attempts to silence any criticism. It doesn't stop with just no criticism; it must have all-out approval and with hate crimes legislation, must be elevated to a protected status above and beyond other groups, like injured veterans, the elderly, or the innocent unborn. All those lofty noble ideas always lead the wrong way if they are not solidly based in the word of God!! Why can't people just accept the wisdom of God; it's so much easier that way!! We can read what happens when we don't, but somehow we always believe we can do it better this time; we know better!

The Bible doesn't teach that we are to hate homosexuals. We are all sinners! Jesus spent most of his time socializing with sinners, but it was to bring them to TRUTH and REPENTANCE and SALVATION! He loved and forgave them and said, "Go and sin no more." You won't find a case where He condoned their sinful behavior and defended it and even elevated it! My church is full of former thieves, murderers, child molesters, homosexuals, drug users, etc. Key word: FORMER!! Even as the Apostle Paul pointed out 2000 years ago:

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11

And yes, they may still struggle in their former sins, but with God's grace and forgiveness, and their eyes stayed on Him, they are persevering and leaving their sinful ways behind. And that is true healing and life! This misguided love and acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle that the secular world has will only lead to death! Of the people themselves, of our society, of eternal souls!

My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1-2
